Tried installing messenger v.6 but a message says -"Some files can harm your computer" . What’s this?

Author: Administrator | Files under Reviews

What i understand from this message that appeared twice when i tried installing messenger 6 was that some files of this download can cause damage to my computer’s system. That’s why i’m having second thoughts about downloading messenger 6, aside from the not so good reviews i’ve read on the internet. I want to download version 7.5 but I’m not sure it will run on Windows 98. Hope somebody can help me out.

That is an automatic message from Windows warning you that attempting to install a downloaded program in your system might trigger a virus. Only install software from a source that you know is virus-free.

Its a built-in warning system used by your PC/WebBrowser/Popup blocker to make people aware that not all downlaods are safe (so people download ANYTHING!).

If you are certain that the download is safe (as you would from a reputable source like Yahoo!/MSN) then you should be able to click on the yellow bar where this message is displayed and select "allow download"

well, my mom says that some of the files CAN harm your computer but it rarely happens so it would probably be safe to go ahead and download it
