Do modern electronic systems also have operating systems?

Author: Administrator | Files under Operating Systems

I am curious. Today, we have DVD players, digital cameras, CD players, LCD TVs and mobile phones. They are all related to the computer.

Do all these devices have operating systems in them? If so, what are the operating systems? Windows, Linux? Do they also have CPUs? If so, what are they? AMD, Intel?

How do their Operating Systems differ from the operating system of the PC?

They all have operating systems but they are the operating systems of the specific brand or company that made the products. They must have some sort of cpu but it’s not what you’d think of when you think of a computer. It would also be made by the manufacturer. I’ve heard of people that have found ways to create their own operating systems for cell phones, but I am unaware of how to do it.

These electronic systems absolutely have operating systems. In fact, if you include all types of Microprocessors in the world, Windows runs on less than 3% of the world’s microprocessors. The type of OS depends on the manufacturer. Wind River Systems of Alameda, CA develops the most popular OS for electronic devices. There are several flavors of Linux as well. And of course MSFT has entered the market and has an OS designed for consumer electronics.
