My current operating system is Windows XP but I’d like to try Mac or Linux. Is it possible to have both operating systems on one computer?
If so, is is possible to be able to download the OS online?
How do I "duel boot" or whatever?

It sure is. You can go to distrowatch.com for listings of Linux distros. They also have help topics. Ubuntu is a fairly easy Linux distro for beginners. It also now has a way for the user to add the distro into Windows just like you would add any other program or app.
Once you download the iso, you just burn the iso image to disc and the start it up like you would any other disc and install it. Then whne you reboot the computer you will have dual-boot. You will be able to choose between logging into either Windows or the Ubuntu partition.

Mac wouldn’t work but Linux would. It’s called dual-booting. Personally, I dual-boot XP Pro and Windows 7 Ultimate 64.

This computer has windows 2000 and vista 32 bit and vista 64 bit, I use the vista 32 bit for this type of activity.

Yes, you can do a dual boot in which you can choose your operating system or you can try a virtualized environment, which is like having a Operating System in a Operating System. You can achieve this by partitioning and installing 2 OS’s on one hard drive or, using a product like VMware’s Workstation. As for downloading it online, there are various flavors of Linux for free, but as for other Operating Systems the legality of it comes into question.

it is possible to run more than 1 OS per machine, either using a Virtual Machine (VM) or by dual booting, which you will need to have legit disks that are not restore disks to install the OS, and it is, but its illegal for some OSes, since you have to buy the OS in store to get it legally, and finding mac for PC is hard, so i highly recommend using Ubuntu Linux, as its free, and available online for download legally, and its the easiest to use, and there’s a ton of support available for it.

For mac you would need to buy a Macntrash computer. If you were to install Linux your computer should ask you on start up which OS you want to run. Linux, being an open source operating system, will be free and is able to be downloaded.

Yes, you will have to partition your drive so every os has its own chunk of the hard drive that the others can’t mess with. Basically all Linux distros can be downloaded online, just gotta pick which one you want to use. There are many online tutorials for whatever dual boot combination you want to go with, just look for them once you decide which combination you want. (If you want to go a bit hardcore, its even possible to triple boot and beyond if you want to spend the time and effort and if you have the space and the requirements for it)
